If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the go! Through my struggle of becoming vegan I’ve picked up a few tricks along the way. Here are two easy tips on how to stay hydrated and full throughout the day.
Try hot tea instead of hot coffee. Coffee is filled with caffeine to keep you energized, while tea can be used to calm an upset stomach.
All fruits are 80% filled with water.
Along with other health benefits, tea and fruit are easy ways to keep the body hydrated.
Being prepared is one of the most important things you’ll have to be as a vegan. Considering we can’t consume anything that comes from an animal—i.e. beef, pork, chicken, seafood, cheese, milk, etc.— our choices can be limited at times. So remember when I said the struggle gets real? Well its gets even more real on the weekends I have drill. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I’m not only a working college student but I’m also enlisted in the Army National Guard.
Sometimes in the military we’re ordered to travel and complete missions that could take ALL day. Yes, we get fed but I absolutely refuse to eat a plate lunch of processed foods or even worse–a MRE!
Staying prepared means staying focused! Of course, I’m the only solider in the unit with a traveling lunchbox filled with
- agave nectar
I usually blend the walnuts, raisins, banana, and agave together in a small container to create my own personal trail mix.SO I definitely understand the struggle of being a vegan–a southern vegan–and a military southern vegan.
Just remember, preparation is KEY!
